Network related questions

Does Olitech offer a 4G mobile phone?

There is quite a bit of development that goes into creating a 4G phone that is a similar style/simplicity to our Easy Mate+. We are currently developing a 4G version of the Easy Mate + and will advertise the launch closer to it’s release date.

How do I get the Easy Mate+ connected to a telecommunications carrier?

A SIM card needs to be inserted into the phone in order for it to connect to the telecommunications network. We do not currently offer a SIM card with the phone however this service will be available from late November, 2018.

In order to connect the phone to a telecommunications network you can either use your existing SIM card or you can purchase a new SIM card. The Easy Mate+ is unlocked to all telecommunications companies in Australia and New Zealand. Please ensure your SIM card is the standard size.  If you would like to see a demonstration of how to insert the SIM card into the Easy Mate+ please click here to be directed to our Instructional Videos page and select the "Initial Setup" video.

Can I use my existing SIM card in the Easy Mate+?

Yes, you can use your existing SIM card. If your SIM card is not standard size, please contact your mobile phone carrier to obtain an adapter.

What size SIM card can be used with the Easy Mate+?

The Easy Mate+ can be used with a standard size SIM card. If your SIM card is not standard size, please contact your mobile phone carrier to obtain an adapter.

Is the Easy Mate+ locked to specific phone carriers?

No, the Easy Mate+ can be used with any mobile phone carrier in Australia and New Zealand. It can also be used in other countries however you would need to ensure the country supports the 3G mobile frequencies of 850, 900 and/or 2100.

Will the Easy Mate+ work in my area?

The Easy Mate+ uses the 3G telecommunications network. The signal strength it receives will be determined by what 3G service the users chosen telecommunications company offers in their location. If you are unsure what service your telecommunications company provides in your area, we recommend you contact them to determine this.

Why does my Easy Mate+ show the message “SOS only” on the home screen?

If the message “SOS only” is present on your home screen it indicates that your phone is not connecting to your SIM card/the telecommunications network. To confirm this, please complete the following:

  1. Press “Menu”

  2. Select “Settings”

  3. Please see if “Network Settings” is an option within the Settings menu.

If "Network settings" is not shown in the Setting’s Menu please complete the following:

  1. Power the phone off by pressing and holding the power key (bottom right button on keypad with yellow circle icon) for 3 seconds.

  2. Remove the back cover.

  3. Remove and reinsert the SIM card, ensuring it is a standard size SIM card and that the SIM card touches but does not push past the black bracket at the top of the SIM slot.

  4. Replace the battery and back cover

  5. Power the phone on and observe whether the “SOS message” remains on screen or whether you now see your telecommunications company name (eg Telstra).

If the “SOS only” message is still present on the screen, it could reflect a problem with either the SIM card or the phone. Please try a different SIM card in the phone and see whether it is successful in accessing the network. If a different SIM card is successful in accessing the network please replace your SIM card. If the different SIM card is not successful in accessing the network please contact Olitech.
